IT2/MT2 Eligible Cars

Generally speaking, the cars eligible for IT2 are those listed but not competitive in SCCA® ITS, although IT2 is open to cars not listed in the SCCA® rules. Manufactured starting in the early 1990s, these cars range in quoted power from 120-150hp and are delivered with a curb weight in the range of 2200 to 2800 pounds. Generally speaking, "sports" or "GT" cars - those without back seats - are not eligible for IT2, to avoid introducing a variable for which the performance-leveling system cannot readily correct.

Race weights are determined by a formula that considers stock engine power and the potential HP gains under IT rules preparation, based on an estimated power to weight ratio and including a 200 pound allowance for the driver. Use the IT2 Weight Calculator to determine the race weight of your favorite car. Note that the formula applied has not been finalized - please provide your feedback on the system and on the specified weight of your car.

If you have a particular car that falls into these general guidelines that you would like to have considered for listing in IT2, please contact Kirk Knestis by e-mail. Please note also that this list is is not supposed to be all inclusive - the models below are listed to provide examples of eligible cars, as of August 2003.
